SAPP: Political parties should say what they are fighting for

Kota Kinabalu, Monday, 11 November 2024

The people of Sabah want to know what it is that the political parties of Sabah are fighting for so that Sabahans know how to cast their votes.

As one who has contested, won and lost elections, I sense that ordinary Sabahans are now sick and tired of politicians claiming seats, to share seats and to forge new electoral pacts without saying what issues they are fighting for. Are they fighting only to become YBs and Ministers?

Political parties are clamouring for electoral seats as though the seats belong to parties.
In fact, the ownership of the constituencies belong to the voters. Only the voters decide who represent them at the state and parliamentary legislatures.

As far as SAPP is concerned, the manifesto of the political party and the consistency of party struggle is crucial in allowing Sabahans to make their choice of a Sabah government.

MA63, Territorial Sea, 40% case, 35% MP seats, Labuan

What is the stand of the political parties concerned on the full implementation of MA63?

Why are some parties completely silent on the Territorial Sea Act 2012?

What has happened to the MPs who withdrew their court case to claim the 40% revenue from the Federal government?

What do the Federal and Sabah Ministers have to say about the termination of the RM866 million fund to Sabah Electricity? According to media reports, much of these RM866 million are spent on paying Independent Power Producers (IPPs) which were appointed by the federal government at the time. Should the Federal government now abandon their fiscal responsibility to Sabah? Will Sabah be made to suffer massive electricity blackouts like what happened last Saturday at Sandakan/Lahad Datu/Kunak/Tawau? People want real answers to serious problems and not listening to politicians clamouring for seats.

What is the stand of the the various political parties on reverting the status of our Head of State to Tuan Yang Terutama Negara (no longer Negeri)?

What are the parties stand on taking back Labuan? Why are the Malaya parties completely silent on the hot issue of giving back one-third of the Malaysian parliament seats to the Borneo Territories (Sabah and Sarawak)?

In other words, what are the political parties asking the Sabah people to vote for?
