KOTA KINABALU: SAPP Youth Vice Chief Dexter Chin supports Lim Kat Chung’s welcoming 5G infrastructure development in Luyang. In fact, Lim has clearly explained the safety of 5G development against public’s mistaken perception of radiation effects on the people around the area.
“Lim has never at any time supported the illegal construction by the contractor as insinuated by DAP Luyang,” Dexter said, contradicting a statement by Chan Loong Wei, DAP Phoong’s Luyang liaison officer.
“It is disappointing that DAP chose to use this issue for political gain, provoke negativity and antidevelopment.
Dexter said in line with the “Sabah Maju Jaya” initiative, the GRS government has recently introduced the 2022-2025 strategic plan to make Sabah a high-tech state. Whereby, Kota Kinabalu, Sandakan and Tawau will be rolling out 5G, while aiming to get whole Sabah full coverage with 4G network.
“Hundreds of telecommunications towers and thousands of base stations will be installed during the implementation of the plan, in order to allow Sabahans to be up-to-date and enjoy high-speed internet.
Dexter said the location of these towers and stations will be technically suggested by the telecommunications companies, and then reviewed by the local government and relevant agencies for their suitability. It is inevitable that there will be different opinions from time to time, and there is no need to fuss about.
“Technical problems can be solved, and it is left to the technical specialists. I hope everyone will welcome the 5G era with a positive attitude.”
