Gee: Together, Let us Maintain “Zero Squatters” in Luyang
KOTA KINABALU – Kota Kinabalu City Hall’s (DBKK) determination to weed out squatters has won praise from the general public.
Gee, who is Luyang Community Development Leader (PPM) and also Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) vice president, said that DBKK had issued many warning notices and given ample time for the squatters around KK to move out or relocate.
“It is disappointing that some opposition leaders are trying to make it into a political issue under the pretence of protecting, acting as champions for these squatters to their own political advantage. These kind of attitude are anti-progress and regression. By encouraging people to ignore rule of law is hindering development towards a healthy and progressive society,” he said.
Gee, said in his statement after inspecting the area which was cleared of squatters in November. However, there are still two makeshift shacks remaining around the area. He said his UPPM team will continue their monitoring to avert further resurgence of squatters.
“We must never ignore such “spark”, as it could ignite bigger problems in the future, even though it’s small now,” he added.
Gee hopes that constituents of Luyang can continue to cooperate to maintain the “zero squatters” record.
