Yong Yit Jee: Warisan Plus should admit failure gracefully

Kota Kinabalu – 9 September 2021

Warisan-Plus should admit their failure gracefully and not coming up with excuses for failing to resolve the KK Skybridge limbo during their 22 months administration.

It is disappointing to see that some opposition members are attempting to mislead the public by giving false information regarding the now completed KK Skybridge project. The Skybridge was completed according to the original plan which connects Centre Point Sabah. CPS agreed to construct the entrance and link between the KK Skybridge and CP mall at their own costs within 6 months from the date of completion.

This RM31.5 million project was abandoned indefinitely during Warisan-Plus administration, and they failed to resolve it even though it was said to be 94.5% completed causing the skybridge to become an eyesore and exposing public to safety risks.

Thankfully, the long-delayed KK Skybridge is finally open for public use starting today. The pedestrians can now use the air-conditioned skybridge which is equipped with escalators and an elevator for the disabled and 20 kiosks connecting Asia City, Api-Api Commercial Centre, Warisan Square and Oceanus Mall.

One may wonder why the previous government couldn’t resolve this issue when they had Kota Kinabalu MP Chan Foong Hin, former Federal Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng (both from DAP) and Api-Api assemblywoman cum Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Christina Liew (Sabah PKR Chief).

At the end of the day, what people want to see is the result and not petty bickering and excuses to cover up failures. Warisan Plus failed while GRS has succeeded and the public can now finally benefit from the Skybridge.
