Gee: Phoong’s allegation untrue

Kota Kinabalu, 8 April 2021: The Public Works Department (JKR) is still carrying out repairs to the damaged Lintas flyover as contrary to false accusations by Luyang assemblyman Phoong Jin Zhe who alleged no repair works were carried out, said Gee Tien Siong.

“In fact, the workers are risking their lives every day working hard in the underground water-flooded tunnel to fix the foundation of the structure,” he said.

Gee Tien Siong, who is Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) Vice President cum Luyang Community Development Leader said the investigations and assessments of the damage had been done immediately and subsequently repair works arranged and started without delay on 25 January 2021.

“Cracks on the flyover were caused by damages to its underground foundation where the current phase repair works are taking place. Work progress is very much subjected to water level in the tunnel which is affected by the tides, as workers are not able to enter the tunnel during high tides,” Gee added.

Gee regretted Phoong’s irresponsibility to make cheap political publicity with his baseless accusations.

“As an assemblyman, Phoong can easily get details from the works department or from the Minister of Works. It is unfortunate that he chose to hide behind the internet to feed untruths. As an elected representative getting paid to do public service, Phoong should show some empathy towards others,” Gee told.
