Family struggling to make ends meet

KOTA KINABALU, 31 January 2021: While visiting a poor family at Tanjung Aru the few days ago, Putatan councillor Noraiza Mohd Noor had a firsthand knowledge how a poor family struggles to make ends meet.

The family of four, father and mother and two sons were renting rooms at a steel factory in Tanjung Aru. The mother is a OKU and the father works at the same factory and was paid RM30 a day. The younger son aged 17, had to stop schooling at age 11 and now works at a carwash while the elder son, aged 21, is still studying at MSU college paying school fees at RM200 monthly. This family has been living at the steel factory for 20 years.

Noraiza, who is also a Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) supreme councillor, had distributed food baskets under the Sentuhan Kasih program to this family.

While at Kg Talangtaun in Petagas, Kapitan Cina of Petagas Chung Min Kong, a CLC member of SAPP Putatan, last Friday, paid a visit to another family here who are renting a plot of land and has been living there for 40 years. The father, Chong Kui Min, 82 years old, depending on his two sons. The older one used to drive a school bus but since there is no school, now had to depend on the younger son who is now works at a carwash. During the visit, Chung gave the family a small cash donation.
