SAPP Wanita welcomes allocation for women development

Kota Kinabalu, 19 December 2020: The Women’s wing of Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) appreciates the recent budget presented by the State government led by Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Hj Noor that showed its concern for the well-being and empowerment of women in the state.

Its Women Chief Puan Irene Chan Kam Ndin said the total allocation of RM15.66 million for women’s development program which includes RM5.86 million skill courses for single mothers and underprivileged women under supervision of the Women Affairs Department (JHEWA) so that they will be equipped with necessary skills for their sustenance.

She also welcomed the development program which includes RM9.8 million provided under Yayasan Usaha Maju (YUM) for provision of micro-credit facilities to women.

“It is hoped that the Women Development Program will improve the livelihood of our women in our society and empowerment so as to face the economic hardship especially at this time when we are all affected by the Covid-19 pandemic,” Irene said. She also called on the women to use this opportunity to take advantage of the development program by the government to improve and uplift their livelihood. She said the allocation should be fairly distributed and should reach the truly needy ones.
