EVO Youth Camp Prepping for coming GE

Kota Kinabalu, 13 December 2021 – Youths who attended a one-day SAPP EVO Camp organised by Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) Youth had the opportunity to gain greater understanding about the political situation and issues, including MA63 (Malaysia Agreement 1963), the basis for the formation of Malaysia, said Datuk Seri Panglima Yong Teck Lee.

The SAPP president said youths aged 18 and above will be voters in the next Sabah General Election, expected to be held in three (3) years’ time.

“I am confident that children of party members and youths who took part in the EVO Camp and other training camps organised by the SAPP Youth Wing will be equipped with a better idea and knowledge on MA63, in contrast with other youths who joined some political parties or are partyless,” said Yong in his speech during the closing ceremony of EVO Camp held virtually at the SAPP headquarters with various party divisions around Sabah, last Sunday.

Yong said Malaysia’s political landscape and scenario had faced unprecedented changes and rapid political developments since the 14th General Election in 2018. He is confident the EVO Camp training will help youths to be better prepared as the future of the party and Sabah’s hope lies in their hands.

There were about 100 youths participating in the EVO Camp, including those from Kota Kinabalu, Papar, Tambunan, Keningau, Kota Belud, Tawau, Lahad Datu, Sandakan, and Sepanggar.

Meanwhile, EVO Camp’s organising chairman, Nelson Marcellus, said this is the first time an EVO Camp was held virtual-hybrid.

“We have skipped several EVO Camps since the beginning of MCO in March 2020. Today, the long-awaited EVO Camp finally resumed, and our senior cadets can once again meet up, and with many new faces,” said Nelson.

“The talk “Genesis SAPP & Evo Camp” was presented by Dr Brister Mokujal and Nelson Marcellus.

SAPP’s young lawyer Yong Yit Jee delivered a talk on “UNDI 18” while the “Genesis Malaysia” talk was delivered by Stephan Gaimin who heads the EVO Camp Academy.

Opening remarks and motivation at the EVO camp workshop was presented by SAPP Youth Chief Jamain Sarudin.

Participants who completed the one-day EVO camp training were presented with certificates by their respective local party leaders at different areas during the hybrid virtual meet.
