Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) Youth Movement stepped forward to provide Bakul Prihatin Negara aid to 413 families of the SFI workers who were affected by the Covid-19 pandemic on Saturday after they had received their applications, said Jamain Sarudin.
“As temporary measure, we can’t let them wait long, once the application is processed, the supply of goods from the Social Welfare Department arrives. We prepare the logistics for delivery,” he said.
According to him, the activity of handing over the Bakul Prihatin Negara food aid to applicants in need will be continued in Kuala Penyu, Beaufort, Tambunan, Tenom and other districts based on applications and supplies.
Meanwhile, Jamain, who is SAPP Youth Chief, said he believes the Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji is working to resolve the SFI issue as soon as possible.
Hajiji was quoted as saying that the State Government had terminated the SFI license agreement starting September 1 to free the concession area from any Receiver and Manager (R&M) ties and the Sales and Purchase agreements. He also said that when all the factories could be activated, the affected SFI workers could be given employment opportunities again.
“This will bring a new hope to SFI employees,” Jamain added.
Kamal Mustapha, representing SFI employees also expressed his desire to pay a courtesy call on the Chief Minister to find out the development and information related to SFI from him.
“If we can’t meet the Chief Minister, we hope he can send a senior officer to brief us,” said Kamal.
While receiving the Bantuan Prihatin Nasional food aid, Kamal, on behalf of the SFI employees, thanked SAPP Youth for their empathy and help in providing assistance to them. He hopes the good cooperation will continue in the future.
Also participating in the program were 3 Youth Vice Chiefs Charles Yong, Dexter Chin and Nelson Marcellus; Youth Secretary Sherine Chong Pen, Youth Exco members Stephan Gaimin, Roland Anjun, Moses Everitus, Kemiron Sibul, Clement Foo who also Member of Kota Belud District Council and member Lajri Likit.
