KOTA KINABALU, July 6, 2021: Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) vice president and SAPP Bandau CLC chairman John Charles Mitah Mikat commended Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor’s decision as an act of defending Sabah’s autonomy.
He said the people of Sabah should be proud to have a leader who speaks out and has the courage to make decisions for the welfare of the people.
“I am confident and believe that the government under Hajiji’s leadership has its own way of handling and breaking the chain of the COVID-19 pandemic from continuing to spread.
“As previously announced by the government that Sabah Region is one of the best example provinces in dealing with the spread of dangerous viruses in Malaysia and this is a fact,” he said.
Apart from that, he said Sabah is also capable and has the best way to manage and restore Sabah’s economy so that it recovers as usual to the maximum level.
“There is no denying that Sabah is a lucky land because it has the richest natural resources in Malaysia but it is very sad that Sabah is still listed as the poorest state in Malaysia.
Because of that, we do not forget that in accordance with the 1963 Malaysia Agreement (MA63), and based on the prime minister’s announcement while in Sarawak a few months ago, that Sabah and Sarawak are a region (region) and not just a state like in Peninsular Malaysia.
“In order to meet this challenge, Sabah needs to develop and must stand on its own two feet without any restrictions and obstacles from outsiders,” he said.
