Kota Kinabalu, 21st February 2021: Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) Women and Youth along with SAPP CLC N.27 Limbahau Taskforce, have collaborated to distribute 40 boxes of food aid to the villagers at Kg. Baun/Timbangan and Kg. Dambai, Papar, that were deeply affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Madam Yvonne Yong Yit Phung, from SAPP Wanita, who is also a committee member of the Central Perikatan Nasional Women Movement, stated that the food aid was contributed by its Central Perikatan Nasional Women Division, via JKM Sabah. She is thankful for the support from SAPP CLC N.27 Limbahau Taskforce, all boxes of food aid have been distributed to 40 head of household.
The Perikatan Nasional Women (SAPP) entourage also had the opportunity to visit an elderly blind lady at Kg. Biau, Papar. According to her relative, Mdm. Georgina Benedict, her grandaunt Mdm. Milita Mijinal, 85 years old, have been visually impaired since birth. She currenly resides alone at a very run-down house, that is about to collapse anytime. Mdm Georgina have been wanting her grandaunt to stay with her, but have been rejected many times as she didn’t want to be a burden to her niece. Hence, all the Mdm Georgina could offer is to send her meals 3 times daily, making sure she is eating well.
When asked regarding if there have been any help received, Mdm Geogina mentioned that her grand aunt used to receive assistance from the welfare department, however due to her old age and movement restrictions, she hasn’t been able to renew her application. We have also learnt that they have tried to apply for e-Kasih, in order to repair the house, but their application has been turned down with the reason of old age, not knowing how much longer would she be benefitting from the repaired house.
“It is to our utter dismay and disappointment to have heard this, and we are determined to look into what we can do in order for Mdm Milita Mijinal to receive a fair help and assistance,” Yvonne said.
Joining in the distribution were namely, Mdm Helen Baikan (AJK Wanita Perikatan Nasional), Wenddy Chia (Exco Wanita Head of Information), Rafidah Sarigan (Exco Wanita Assistant Secretary), Puan Rasni Kasim (AJK Exco Wanita) and Nelson Marcellus (Supreme Council cum Exco SAPP Youth) and SAPP CLC N.27 Limbahau Taskforce.
