Sentuhan Kasih for landslide victims

Kota Kinabalu, 19 January 2021: Some 9 stranded families in Signal Hill who were affected by landslides after long heavy rains wreak havoc in Sabah’s west coast for the last few days, received some relief aid from Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) of Perikatan Nasional in the form of “Sentuhan Kasih”.

This aid, in the form of food baskets were distributed to ease some burden of the families affected by the landslide which had severed road access and communication that made it difficult to go out and buy food and necessities.

The team led by Dexter Chin, a member of the SAPP Supreme Council and in collaboration with Unit Pemimpin Pembangunan Masyarakat (UPPM) Dun N.19 Likas, said that at the meantime, not much can be done to repair the damaged roads because the soil’s condition is still soft and muddy. However, he added that JKR will be covering the landslide area with canvas to reduce it from further risks of becoming worse.

Dexter cautioned that the community living there should always be prepared, careful and alert of the surroundings because the rainy weather is expected to last a few more days.
