KOTA KINABALU, September 19, 2020: Pedestrians and motorists have to bear the stench from an overflowing manhole at the roundabout facing Damai Point, Luyang, said Gee Tien Siong.
Gee, who is Perikatan Nasional candidate for N21 Luyang, added that he had reported this matter to the relevant authorities and urged them to clear the manhole as soon as possible.
According to nearby business operators, the issue was reported twice to the former Luyang assemblyman but the problem still remains unresolved.
Gee, who is also the vice president of Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) said he went to inspect the area upon receiving a call from a businessman Mr. Chen at 11:30 am this morning about the foul smell from contaminated water oozing from the manhole at the roundabout near Damai Point.
He said the area is surrounded by many shops, eateries, especially. Problem such as this should have been resolved at the shortest time. He pointed out that the stinking odour could cause citizens to suffer from pollution and hygiene could also be compromised.
