Final Push at Foh Sang Shoplots on Monday

KOTA KINABALU, May 6, 2018: The Sabah Progressive Party is making a final push for its candidates in Kota Kinabalu with gathering at the Foh Sang Shoplots on Monday at 7.30pm.

Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) director of operations Melanie Chia said the ceramah would involve party president Datuk Yong Teck Lee who is contesting the Kota Kinabalu Parliamentary seat.

SAPP is also fielding candidates in the Luyang, Api Api and Likas state seats as well as in Kapayan where its candidates are contesting under the STAR logo.

Melanie said the party has been encouraged by the response from voters since campaigning got underway after the April 28 nomination day.

“Our first ceramah drew a crowd of more than 500 and the people coming to hear us have been steadily increasing,” she said.

In comparison, Melanie said DAP had seen a dwindling of audiences compared to the 2013 polls indicating a drop in support from KK folks who have been let down by the party’s YBs for the past 10 years.

“In 2013 Lim Guan Eng was said to have attracted up to 8,000 people at a ceramah here but last week the number of people at his event was just a fraction of it,” she noted.

She said the contest for Kota Kinabalu was now between SAPP and DAP that had been hit by a series of “froggings” or its elected representatives ditching it for other political parties.

“This is among the inconvenient truths the DAP is having to face,” Melanie added.
